Leopoldo Trieste print

I was born in 1980 in La Spezia. I grew up in Porto Venere, which you may have heard of because of its beautiful sea and landscape. I did my undergrads at Bocconi University (Milan) and in 2004 I obtained a degree in Economics with a dissertation in Decision Theory (advisor: Aldo Montesano). Then I left for Pisa, where I spent one year studying innovation management at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna.
After a M. Sc in Management of Innovation and some experiences at Fiat Research Centre in Turin, I currently work at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Lab-Insat.
My main fields of expertise are decision theory under strong uncertainty, health and pharmaceutical economics. My research interests are also political and business cycles, functional and applied mathematics, operative research.

Ph.D. Project

My Ph.D. project is: Regulation and competition in the pharmaceutical retail market. The aim of the project is twofold. A first theoretical target is to investigate the competition and deregulation impact on development and competitiveness in the retail pharmaceutical market. Strategies for Institutions, Antitrust, stakeholders will be also suggested. The second one is to test the theoretical results monitoring characteristics of the Italian and EU pharmaceutical markets. We will analyse the Italian pharmaceutical retail trade market considering short and long run effects of decreto Bersani, art. 5 (it liberalises the retail channel of OtC and SoP -an Italian acronym for no prescription drugs- and induces vertical and horizontal integrations in the market).
